A Booklist Update

Since my last book posting in the Summer I have read a books:

I love Alias Grace, because it was set in Kingston and it always fun to read about a place that you know. It was also interesting because Queen's University purchased the Women's Prison and the walls came down this Summer. It will become the site for archives for the university.

Another installment of Bone out in colour. I know you can get the works in one giant tome, but I really like the colour and the manageable size.

A little back story from the Bone story. This was good! Grandma Ben was quite the character!

I read the first 3 books in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series and intend to read the rest! They were so gentle and charming!

This was a sexual coming of age, but I found a bit disturbing.

A great memoir. Think Angela's Ashes, from a woman's perspective, not as poor but almost more desperate.

I love Timothy Findley, but I had a big stack of books and kind of just pushed on through this one.

Great YA book about Anorexia and family relationships. Told from the brothers perspective and the girl with Anorexia dies, which is different from other books on the topic that I have read.

I also just finished Gravity by Leanne Lieberman, a local Kingston author and LOVED it!

Duvet Cover

I just finished sewing buttons on the keep the bottom of the cover on and I've been working on this for far too long, but here is the completed duvet cover! It was all up-cycled! I used an old duvet cover and fabric from Value Village and a t-shirt from the Sally Anne. Oh and a scarf that didn't survive a washing.

A long shot.

A little more detail.

I still need to get a free motion foot. The machine groaned a bit on the heavily stitched parts.

Now for some pillow cases to match and perhaps a pillow or two!

More Pillow Action

The 2 green pillows were a gift for SAS made from an old Tori Amos t-shirt. From one piano playing vixen to another. They aren't paper-pieced just sewn together, but the trees at the bottom a gift for the Bird were paper-pieced.

If you know where to get cheap pillow forms, please let me know. I love pillows!
