Busy Busy

The new wave is quilt and squared up and the binding should be going on in the next few days!

I am hoping to get a couple of other quilts cut out in the next week or so while await the arrival of the sashing and backing for my sisters's Greatest Hits quilt. She was down over the holidays to choose some colours to finish it up. It will look great!

Another New Wave Update

I got the top of the new wave quilt finished last night and two wedge strips that will be par of the back. I am hoping to finish the back today and get some batting and basting supplies to finish it tomorrow. In the mean time I have a little something to whip up for Thursday's crafty gift exchange!

Stay tuned.

New Wave Quilt Update

A few weeks ago I posted about cutting pieces for a couple of quilts. While I wait for my sister to visit and choose the sashing colour for her Greatest Hits quilt I thought that I would start piecing the New Wave quilt.

I had to cut the sashing yesterday before I could start sewing, but I got nearly half of the top done.

Three of six strips that will make the top! I am hoping to get this top done before Christmas, but I have a few other items to make before then.

Stay tuned!

FQ Sale

Saturday I had a class at my local quilt shop in machine quilting and I took advantage of their buy 7 get 3 free fat quarters and I went for some batiks that I had been coveting.

I'm not sure what I might do with them, but I can't wait to put them into action!

Greatest Hits in the Works

Blocks pinned and ready for sewing.

Some of the greatest hits blocks.

The fabric selection for greatest hits.

Blocks all stacked up.

Now I just need to choose the sashing and get the top finished!

Robot's Done!

The robot in a box quilt has gone to it's temporary home until the little bundle of joy arrives. I need to get a few more pics to show the back, but it was a success!

Puppy Blanket

This is a small blanket/mat for a puppy. Made with reclaimed denim.

It will be a lovely Christmas gift for a well loved pup.

Life on Close Knit

This is a pic of my mom and her little dog Miss Bridget, I had to share this since it's just so silly!

For some fun reading about life on a boat check out the blog of Mom and her partner Al here.

I have yet to visit, but am very much looking forward to it and her comical posts make it all the more enticing!

Snow and Fabric

This is what Charlie usually gets up to while I'm quilting. This is him the a few nights ago while I was quilting the Robot in a Box quilt.

Yesterday was a great day to hunker down and be cozy. This is the view from my sewing/cutting table.

I have several quilts semi-planned and I needed to get some cutting done in preparation. This is a gift for my sister (she already knows because she is picky and had to be consulted on pattern and fabric).

The fabrics are all Patricia Bravo, most from 'Paradise' and some 'Oval Elements' and they will be going into a queen sized quilt using Elizabeth Hartman's 'Greatest Hits' pattern.

The other quilt I prepped yesterday is also using an Elizabeth Hartman pattern, 'New Wave'. It is a custom bundle that I ordered from Fabricworm and I think this one is actually for me!

Today I plan to cut this fabric into binding strips and get the machine portion of the binding onto the Robot quilt. Then I can curl up and hand sew the rest while I watch Lord of the Rings, an early December tradition!

Getting Comfortable with Colour

This is the product of my final 'Getting Comfortable with Colour' class. A and I signed up for a 3 evening class and our last class was spent constructing mini quilts with solids and no rotary cutter allowed.

It was so nice to just put my foot to the pedal without much planning. I do a fair bit of winging it, but it was great to be encouraged to do so!
