Leaders and Enders and Finnegan, Oh My!

Monday I spent much of the day cutting out 1.5" and 2.5" squares to use for leaders and enders in the hopes of one day completing a postage stamp quilt. I had started this before and decided to start over and try to have no repeated fabrics.

The last two days was a fair bit of production style sewing to I used nearly all of my 1.5" squares. Finnegan decided that the 1.5" square bin was the perfect place for a nap!

There was enough to piece one 12" x 12" block. (It's not all sewn here yet.)

For you doing the math that's 144 pieces. This will be a long time in the making and if you have any fabrics that you don't see here, feel free to send a 1.5" square of it along!

Table for Eight

These are some placemats that I have in the works as a gift for some friends.

Log cabins.

This arrangement gave me a quilt design idea. More on that later.

Tops finished. Now for the back?!

Growing Pains

So the move went smoothly. Many boxes are still to be unpacked, but the big stuff is in place and we have been sleeping in our freshly painted and floored room, with NO animals. Some good sleeps even in this Summer heat have been enjoyed.

But the guests have gone and J is off to work this week, which leaves me and the pets at home. Whoa! They have been pretty good all told, but this morning was a doozie! I suppose that is to be expected when you live in a little house with 7 pets. We humans are far out numbered!

Everyone has been walked, fed, watered and let outside according to preference and I am enjoying my lemon water, listening to Metro Morning. Following are the furry friends that make up our animal family.

Today I am back in the studio cutting lots of fabric for upcoming projects and playing cat concierge for the cat colony. I'll post some photos of the studio soon, it is very nearly complete, just some shelves to hang!

3 Sleeps 'til Moving Day

Since the 1000s of Stitches show it has been all house-cleaning, house-organizing and painting in preparation for moving day. Lady J and the furry brood arrive late Sunday and then Monday is moving day. I have been finishing up the closet in the bedroom, the final coat of paint went on yesterday and flooring is to be laid Monday while we are schlepping the rest of J's worldly possessions across the boarder. There are still shutters to scrap, sand and paint, but the room will be livable.

And once all of that is done, I can get back to our quilt. Blocks are assembled, I am just awaiting the arrival of the sashing, which shouldn't be too long since the postal strike has ended.

Photos to come soon. And more sewing too!
